How much does an AI girlfriend app cost in 2026?
AI girlfriend app cost explained: subscriptions, tokens and credits, hidden extras, annual vs monthly, refund rules, and how to read a pricing page
· 8 min read
How much does an AI girlfriend app cost? Between roughly $6 and $20 a month for a base subscription, and anywhere from nothing to $40 more for tokens, credits or coins that pay for photos, voice and video. The headline price is rarely the real price. This guide explains each pricing model, the extras that don't appear on the plan card, the annual-versus-monthly trade-off, your refund rights, and how to read a pricing page so the bill matches what you expected.
AI girlfriend app cost: the three pricing models
Almost every AI girlfriend app uses one of three structures.
Subscription only. One monthly or annual fee covers everything, sometimes with a monthly allowance of credits. OurDream AI is the clearest example: $19.99 a month or $119.88 a year, both with unlimited messages, image and video generation and 1,000 dreamcoins a month (its home page, September 2026). Kindroid is reported to work the same way for core features, with no token metering, at around $13.99 a month for Standard (pocketanimus, July 2026).
Subscription plus tokens. A base plan unlocks chat, and a separate currency pays for media. Candy AI is the reference case: monthly plans reported at $12.99 to $13.99 with tokens for voice, images and video on top, and according to aicompanionpick (June 2026) "most active users spend $15 to $40 a month on token packs". DreamGF publishes both layers: tiers from $9.99 to $99.99 a month with 100 tokens included, packs from $2.99 to $179.99, and per-action costs of 10 tokens per image, 3 per voice message and 7 per minute of voice call.
Freemium with caps. Chat is free up to a daily or monthly limit, and paying removes the cap. Nomi (about 50 messages a day free, reported), CrushOn (around 50 to 100 a day with ads), GirlfriendGPT (about 20 a day) and Kupid (unlimited basic chat, media paid) all work this way. Replika is freemium too, with about a quarter of users paying according to Wikipedia citing press.
Bunny Tease uses a subscription (monthly, quarterly or annual) plus tokens, with one difference: the price of every action is shown before you confirm it. We never publish our prices in articles; they're on /pricing.
What a base subscription costs
Here is the range across apps whose figures we could source. Prices are USD; "reported" means the company's own pricing page was unreachable and the figure comes from a dated secondary source.
| App | Monthly | Annual (per year) | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Character AI (c.ai+) | $9.99 reported | $94.99 reported | eesel, June 2026 |
| Janitor AI Pro | $9.99 reported | $99.99 reported | tooljunction, March 2026 |
| Candy AI | $12.99 to $13.99 reported | $47.88 reported | aicompanionpick, findaiboyfriend, June 2026 |
| Kindroid Standard | $13.99 reported | $139.99 reported | pocketanimus, July 2026 |
| Nomi AI | $15.99 reported | $99.99 reported | pocketanimus, June 2026 |
| OurDream AI | $19.99 | $119.88 | ourdream.ai, September 2026 |
Replika's US App Store listing shows monthly purchases at $7.99 and $14.99, yearly at $49.99 and $69.99 and a Platinum tier at $89.99. Chai's App Store listing shows Premium at $13.99 a month or $134.99 a year and Ultra at $29.99 a month. CrushOn is reported from about $6 a month, with unlimited around $50. GirlfriendGPT is reported at $15, $35 and $50 a month across three tiers (aigirlfriendmojo, December 2025).
The middle of the market is $13 to $16 a month. Below $10 usually means caps or ads; above $20 usually means media included or very deep memory.
The hidden costs
The plan card is where the pricing page starts, not where it ends. Five things push the real bill above it.
- Tokens and credits for media. On a token model, every photo, voice message or clip is a small debit. Candy's reported rates are 2 to 4 tokens per image and about 12 per video; DreamGF charges 10 per image. Ten photos a week adds up.
- Message caps on paid tiers. GirlfriendGPT's reported Premium and Deluxe tiers cap messages at 5,000 and 20,000 a month; CrushOn's reported Standard tier caps at 2,000. Unlimited is often two tiers up.
- Memory behind a paywall. Kupid's Premium is reported to keep 48 hours of memory, with long-term recall on Ultimate. Kindroid's deeper memory is sold as add-ons of +$24.99 and +$59.99 a month, taking the full stack to $98.97.
- Voice minutes. Kupid is reported at 8 minutes a month on Premium and 45 on Ultimate; DreamGF charges 7 tokens per minute of voice call.
- Failed generations. If a photo doesn't arrive, do you get the tokens back? Few apps say. Bunny Tease returns tokens for any generation that is billed but not delivered.
Annual vs monthly: when the discount is worth it
Annual plans are typically 40 to 70 percent cheaper per month. Candy's reported annual works out to $3.99 a month against $13.99 monthly; OurDream's $119.88 a year is $9.99 a month against $19.99; Character AI's reported $94.99 a year is about $7.92 a month against $9.99.
The discount is real, but the trade-off is commitment. Three questions before you pay upfront:
- Have you used the app for at least a month on the monthly plan? Companion apps are personal; fit is not predictable from a pricing page.
- Does the annual plan include the same media allowance every month, or a one-off bonus? OurDream's yearly adds 1,000 bonus coins at signup, which is a single top-up, not a monthly increase.
- What are the refund terms if you stop after two months? Usually none on annual plans outside the legal withdrawal window.
A quarterly plan, where offered, is a sensible middle. Bunny Tease offers monthly, quarterly and annual; see /pricing.
Refunds, cancellation and the 14-day rule
Cancellation. The norm is that you cancel any time and keep access until the end of the paid period. Check that the app doesn't cut access immediately on cancellation. On Bunny Tease, cancellation is free and access continues until the period ends.
The 14-day withdrawal right. If you buy in the EU, consumer law gives you 14 days to withdraw from a distance purchase. For digital services this right can be waived if you explicitly agree to immediate delivery, so read the checkout screen. Bunny Tease honours the 14-day withdrawal right for EU customers. UK consumers have an equivalent right under domestic law. In the US, refunds are at the platform's discretion unless a state law applies, and app-store purchases go through Apple or Google's refund process rather than the developer's.
Tokens. Consumed tokens are generally non-refundable everywhere. Unused tokens are sometimes refundable within the withdrawal window; ask.
How to read a pricing page
Work through it in this order.
- Find the currency and the billing period. "$3.99 a month" on an annual plan means $47.88 charged today.
- Look for a second currency. Tokens, coins, gems, credits, charms, dreamcoins, pieces. If one exists, find its price list.
- Find the per-action costs. How many tokens is a photo, a voice message, a minute of call, a clip? If the page doesn't say, the cost is not transparent.
- Check the caps. Messages per day or month, voice minutes, images per day, memory duration.
- Check what "unlimited" excludes. Usually media.
- Find the cancellation and refund policy. It should be one click from the pricing page, not buried in the terms.
- Check what shows on the bank statement. The descriptor depends on the payment processor; a good help center says what to expect.
If the pricing page returns a 404, as Candy AI's, Kupid's, GirlfriendGPT's and OurDream's did when we checked in September 2026, treat every reported price as provisional and confirm at checkout.
What a typical month actually costs
Three profiles, using the sourced figures above:
- Chat-first, few photos. A $13 to $16 subscription with no token spend, or a free tier with caps if you don't mind limits. Around $15 a month.
- Regular photos and voice. A subscription plus $15 to $40 in tokens on a token model (Candy's reported active-user range), or a flat $19.99 on OurDream. Around $30 to $55 a month.
- Deep memory and everything included. Kindroid's reported full stack at $98.97, or a top tier on GirlfriendGPT or CrushOn at around $50. Around $50 to $100 a month.
Bunny Tease sits in the subscription-plus-tokens group, with each action priced on screen before you confirm. What that comes to for your usage is on /pricing, and you can try a model like Jeanne Aubertin as a guest at /start before paying anything.
FAQ
Is there a free AI girlfriend app?
Free tiers exist on Nomi, Kupid, CrushOn, GirlfriendGPT, Replika, Character AI and Kindroid, all with caps on messages, media or memory. Bunny Tease lets you chat as a guest without an account; the guest chat stays non-explicit until you verify your age. Fully free adult platforms with unlimited media don't exist, because every generated photo costs real compute.
What is the cheapest AI girlfriend app?
On sourced monthly prices, CrushOn's reported entry tier at about $6, Replika's $7.99 App Store tier and DreamGF's $9.99 Bronze are the cheapest paid plans. Cheapest per month over a year is Candy's reported annual at $3.99 a month, with tokens on top. Cheap entry tiers usually come with caps, so check what's excluded.
Are tokens or a flat subscription better value?
Flat plans win if you generate a lot of media; token plans win if you mostly chat. The problem with tokens is not the cost, it's the unpredictability. A token model where every action's price is shown before you confirm removes most of that problem.
Can I get a refund on an AI girlfriend subscription?
In the EU, you have a 14-day withdrawal right on distance purchases, subject to waiver for immediate digital delivery. Elsewhere, it depends on the platform and, for store purchases, on Apple or Google. Consumed tokens are generally non-refundable. Bunny Tease honours the 14-day EU right and lets you cancel free with access to the end of the period; details in the help center.
In short
Budget for the subscription and then for the media, and don't buy an annual plan before you've spent a month on monthly. Read the token price list before the plan card. And prefer apps that tell you the price of an action before you take it.
